The Play's The Thing

"The Play's The Thing" group will be held on Thursday 29th November 29th at 7.30 in the studio and will be led by Gerry Cousin. We will be reading a couple of one-act suffragette plays to celebrate the Centenary of women getting the vote. New members very welcome.
It is hoped that for the 2019/2020 season it may be possible to read plays that are likely to be performed at the Talisman. These readings would again be for anyone who’s interested and will take place before the play is auditioned. It doesn’t matter whether or not you are actually planning to audition it is just for interest and then. if we see the play peformed, to see how the play we read as a group translated to the stage.

Future productions

Following our Youth Theatre Production next March, we are presenting five one act plays under the title ‘Deckchairs’. Each play is approx. 20 minutes long with a cast of two female performers. There is no set apart from two deckchairs and a few props. Each play is an individual story therefore we will be looking for a number of directors and performers. A director and actor can take on more than one play/role or just the one. While these plays will provide good opportunities for first time and less experienced directors and actors, we would also welcome the more experienced. If you are interested in any capacity and would like further information please contact Stephen Duckham on 07817 100483 or stephenduckham50@outlook.com

July 2019 Musical – YANK!

We are pleased to announce that we have acquired the rights to the Off-Broadway musical ‘Yank!’, recently seen in the West End. It is billed as a World War 2 love story and follows the writings in a journal belonging to a Private Stewart from when he leaves his home to join the US army and then become a reporter for YANK Magazine. It requires a cast of 10 Men and 1 Woman and has a score that is full of rich melodies and catchy 1940’s style songs.

We are waiting for material to be sent from the USA, but if you are interested in taking part and would like more information about the show, please contact me on 07817 100483 or stephenduckham50@outlook.com
