SUMMARY:THE LISTENING ROOM
DESCRIPTION:THE LISTENING ROOM\n\n\n\n\nSaturday 28th March 2026 at 7.30pm\n\n\n\n\nFollowing previous sell-out events last year\, our acclaimed singer-songwriter night is back for 2026. \nThe Listening Room is a wonderful night of acoustic music celebrating the rich talent of original singer-songwriters. Set in the warm\, intimate atmosphere of our theatre foyer\, this special evening features performances from Cat Mead\, Montgomery\, Angelo Cardone (photo courtesy of Little Dark One Productions) and Austin Booth\, and will be hosted by Talisman regular\, Daniel Barrie. \nEach artist will not only perform their music\, but also share the inspirations and experiences that brought their songs to life. \nWith soft lighting\, stripped-back sound\, and heartfelt storytelling\, this is a chance to connect deeply with the music and the artists behind it. These musicians have thousands of streams to their names and have graced prestigious venues across the UK and internationally. Now they’re coming together for a captivating night in Kenilworth. \nOur licensed bar will be open\, making it the perfect night out to relax with friends and family whilst enjoying great music.

Enjoy a fusion of light-hearted entertainment from short plays\, improv\, local bands and singers which always promises an enjoyable evening. \nLaunched in 2022 these events have proven to be very popular in providing experienced and new directors the opportunity to explore some alternative plays as well as showcasing local emerging talent as well as established performers. \nAll acts are performed at 7:30pm and then repeated again at 9pm. The 7:30pm performance is always very popular so prior booking is advised for the earlier session to guarantee a seat. You can just walk in and pay on the door\, but if we are at capacity for the earlier slot you may need to grab yourself a drink from the bar and join us later at 9pm!\nPlay reading has a number of benefits. For resting actors\, there’s an opportunity to keep in touch\, to practice their skills and widen their knowledge of plays. For the Talisman\, it keeps our members in touch and provides ideas for plays we might like to put on in future. \nAlongside the youth theatre\, the Fringe and Friday night socials\, it provides a conduit for the growth and success of the Talisman Theatre. Long may the Talisman play reading group continue.

SUMMARY:THE CHORAL
DESCRIPTION:THE CHORAL – Saturday 25th April 2026  7.30pm\n\n\n\n\n“They were divided by war. He united them in song.“\n \nPeriod Drama \n\n\nCert: 15\n\nUK  2025  113 mins (plus an intermission of 15 mins)\n\nDirector: Nicholas Hytner\nStarring: Ralph Fiennes\, Roger Allam\, Mark Addy\, Alun Armstrong\, Robert Emms\, and Simon Russell Beale.\n \n\n1916. As war rages on the Western Front\, the Choral Society in Ramsden\, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. \nThe Choral’s ambitious committee\, determined to press ahead\, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. \nThey must also engage a new chorus master\, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide\, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) – driven\, uncompromising\, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive\, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together. \nDirected by BAFTA\, Olivier and Tony Award winner NICHOLAS HYTNER (The Crucible) and written by BAFTA\, Olivier and Tony Award winner ALAN BENNETT\, The Choral marks their fourth writer-director collaboration following the acclaimed films The Madness of King George\, The History Boys\, and The Lady in The Van. \n\n\nThe film will be shown with an intermission with the bar and ice creams available.

SUMMARY:A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
DESCRIPTION:A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE\n18th – 23rd May 2026\nPassion. Desire. Madness. Survival.\nTraditional values clash with modern realities in this timeless masterpiece. \nConsidered Tennessee Williams’s finest work\, A Streetcar Named Desire follows Blanche Dubois\, a fading Southern belle who is staying with her sister\, Stella\, in boisterous New Orleans. When she meets Stanley\, Stella’s overtly masculine and working-class husband\, tensions between the pair rapidly and violently come to a head in the claustrophobia of their cramped living quarters. \nJoin us for this powerful tale of desire and destruction as Blanche realises that the present holds no hope and the past is inescapable. \nAge recommendation: 14 + or at parental discretion. Themes of sexual and domestic violence. \nThis amateur production of “A Streetcar Named Desire” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.

DESCRIPTION:BLEAK EXPECTATIONS\n24th – 28th August 2026\nMischief\, mayhem and darkly comic chaos.\nPrepare for a hilarious evening of joy and laughter as Dickens meets Monty Python in this chaotic comic caper. \nFollow the story of Pip Bin and his family and friends as they scramble to escape the clutches of dastardly villains and find true love. Spot the Dickensian characters as they uphold their Victorian values in this non-stop comic farce that sees them send up Britishness with oodles of silliness as they race towards their (hopefully) happy ending. \nBased on the award-winning BBC Radio 4 series\, this Mark Evans play enjoyed a highly successful run in the West End. SUMMARY:GASLIGHT
DESCRIPTION:GASLIGHT\n2nd – 7th November 2026\nDeception burns behind closed doors.\nThe iconic Victorian thriller of manipulation\, secrets and suspense. The Manninghams appear to be the perfect couple — at least from the outside. But behind the elegant façade of their London home\, something far more sinister is at play. \nBella begins to doubt her sanity; Jack vanishes on mysterious errands; objects disappear\, and strange footsteps echo from the attic. Is Bella truly losing her mind? Why does the light keep flickering? And what prompts the sudden arrival of a detective at their door? Gaslight is a gripping story of psychological control\, deception and resilience — a chilling glimpse into the life of a woman fighting to reclaim her reality. \nRediscover Patrick Hamilton’s classic thriller in a new light — the play that gave us the term “gaslighting” — and experience a timeless drama that feels more unsettlingly relevant than ever. Step into the shadows and see it for yourself. \nAge recommendation: 12+ or at parental discretion. Trigger warnings: manipulation\, abusive relationships and themes of mental illness. \nThis amateur production of ‘Gaslight®’ is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.
