SUMMARY:Tea at the Tali
DESCRIPTION:The Talisman play reading group meets once a month; someone in the group chooses a play and obtains copies from the library or elsewhere and we make sure everyone gets an opportunity to read a part. And of course\, we have an interval; a chance for a chat and a cup of a tea or coffee with a biscuit or two.Play reading has a number of benefits. For resting actors\, there’s an opportunity to keep in touch\, to practice their skills and widen their knowledge of plays. For the Talisman\, it keeps our members in touch and provides ideas for plays we might like to put on in future. \nAlongside the youth theatre\, the Fringe and Friday night socials\, it provides a conduit for the growth and success of the Talisman Theatre. Long may the Talisman play reading group continue.

SUMMARY:CINEMA - A COMPLETE UNKNOWN
DESCRIPTION:A COMPLETE UNKNOWN\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday 6th Sep 2025 7.30pm\n\n\n\n\n“He defied everyone; to change everything”\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDrama / Musical Biography\n\nCert: 15\n\nUSA  2025  141 mins (plus an intermission of 15 mins)\n\nDirector: James Mangold\nStarring: Timothée Chalamet\, Edward Norton & Elle Fanning\n\n\nSet in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s\, A COMPLETE UNKNOWN follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician BOB DYLAN’s meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.\nIn 1961\, an unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrives in New York City with his guitar and forges relationships with musical icons such as Johnny Cash and Joan Baez on his meteoric rise\, culminating in a groundbreaking performance that reverberates around the world. \nNominated for 8 Oscars and 6 Baftas\, this ballad of Bob Dylan is charged by Timothée Chalamet’s electric performance.\n \nA Complete Unknown has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%.\n\n\n\n\nThe film will be shown with an intermission with the bar and ice creams available. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA near perfect biopic. The screenplay gives a great insight into the early career of Bob Dylan and doesn’t overlook the darker aspects. Timothée Chalamet is brilliant as Dylan while Boyd Holbrook almost steals the show as Johnny Cash. \nRotten Tomatoes critics consensus\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSuperb performances\, excellent music and incredible art direction with a very well structured script – hugely entertaining. \nThe Guardian
