About the Talisman Theatre
Originally founded in 1942 as non-professional performance company, we bring an abundance of local shows and entertainment to Kenilworth all year round.
We host nine main stage productions across the year ranging from the classics, comedy, musicals, thrillers, mystery, and of course our fun-filled family pantomime. We also have a vibrant youth theatre, regular cinema, and Fringe theatre nights – so there really is something for everyone.
In 1969 we moved from what is now Talisman Square to our present premises in Barrow Road and more recently in 2022 we celebrated our 80th birthday whilst also undergoing significant investment work to expand a refurbish our front-of-house area. This will provide our community with a modern, welcoming, and versatile space that our audience and members will continue to enjoy for years to come as we continue to shape the future of dramatic arts within our local and wider community.
Our theatre seats 158 people with full accessibility for wheelchair users as well as an audio loop. The new foyer and bar is a vibrant space to host art exhibitions and community events and there’s a studio for rehearsals and small-scale productions.
The Talisman is completely run by friendly and enthusiastic volunteers and we welcome new members to come down and get involved. Whether this is on stage as actors, directors, set designers and painters, as well as our invaluable sound and lighting technicians, backstage crew, and front-of-house volunteers. The show could not go on without everyone’s passion and dedication both on and off stage and we are very grateful for our wonderful team of volunteers.
And we have a very popular and thriving youth theatre that meets for weekly workshop sessions and performs annually on our main stage as well.
Holding regular open auditions throughout the year we have an open casting policy – anyone who is interested in joining the theatre as an active member is welcome at our casting sessions.
