Welcome from our Chairman
2019 marked the 50th anniversary of The Talisman Theatre and Arts Centre on its present site in Barrow Road, the company having started life as the Rover Players some 27 years before that in what is now known as Talisman Square. Having now celebrated our 80th anniversary in 2022 I’m sure some of our older patrons still have fond memories of the transition to Barrow Road.
I sincerely hope the recent extension to our new front-of-house area along with our exciting plans to keep building for the future in order to provide our local community with a versatile space to host our mainstage productions appeals to older and new patrons alike.

With nine main stage productions every year from across a wide spectrum of different genres and styles of theatre, delivered to the highest artistic and technical standards, you can expect a thrilling, vibrant evening in the theatre. Our reputation means that we attract dynamic directors and top local actors to our stage. We also welcome visiting companies to enhance our programme. These have included full-length productions, Jazz bands, Tribute bands and one-night stands.
Each season brings something for everyone, including Comedy, Murder and Mystery, Thrillers and the Classics alongside Musicals and our ever-popular family Pantomime. The Talisman Theatre has been privileged to have mounted British Premieres and, in some cases, brand-new works in drama and music. The company is always seeking out new, exciting shows for their first performances in this area.
Our very successful Youth Theatre presents a fully staged production each year and why not catch up on movies you missed on their release, on our HD screen with full surround sound?
