Twinkle

For decades Harold has lived his life in tune with seasons of pantomime, as a doyen of the pantomime dame. One of the last of a dying breed Harold may be feeling his age but he’s resisting changes to the world he loves with a vengeance.
As he prepares once again to revive his favourite character Widow Twankey, he’s decided to make the ultimate stand against his nemesis, a smug reality television star called Jez.
The last chance to see this one man play, featuring Phil Reynolds, at the Talisman.

Director's Note

Stephen Duckham

Twinkle is a one-man revenger’s comedy chronicling a forgotten history and a dying art. Harold Thropp has lived his life in tune with the seasons of pantomime, as a doyen of the pantomime dame. One of the last of a dying breed, Harold may be feeling his age but he’s resisting changes to the world he loves with a vengeance.

As he prepares once again to revive his favourite character Widow Twankey, he’s decided to make the ultimate stand against his nemesis, a smug reality television star called Jez Buckham.

A tour de force for any actor to be alone on the stage, I’m thrilled to have Phil Reynolds creating the part of Harold. Phil and I have worked together many times, and being given the chance to bring a very different kind of entertainment to the Talisman stage has been a great experience.

Cast

Phil has been appearing at the Talisman for 35 years. Prior to Covid his most recent roles on our stage were as Sarge/Scarlett in Yank! and as our present monarch in King Charles III. He also acts regularly at the Loft Theatre in Leamington where he has just appeared as a menacing hit man in The Winterling, a character far removed from Harold in Twinkle! He loves this play with a passion and hopes you do too.
