Audition Date: Sunday 21st April 2024 at 10am

Performance dates: 20th December 2024 – 4th January 2025  

Director: Gill Halford 

Assistant Director / Choreographer: – Sally Jolliffe 

Production Manager: Wendy Elliott 

10am – Registration (parents should accompany any auditionees until 10.30am) 

 

Rehearsals to begin mid October – some will be off-site to accommodate the November show rehearsals / performances.  

Weekday rehearsals – Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 7.30pm – 10pm.  

Sunday rehearsals 2pm – 5pm.

Please see the information below outlining the roles available. None have been or will be cast in advance of the audition.  

Importantly we are looking to build an exceptional TEAM! We’ll foster a company of positive, enthusiastic and keen performers and crew who want to help deliver a fab-u-lous festive treat to our patrons! Can you keep that smile going even when you’re concentrating on your lyrics and dance steps? Does the idea of adding a more than a little bit of sparkle to a child’s first visit to theatre appeal to you? If so, read on! If not…. Bah Humbug!  

 

Principal Characters 

 

Fairy Greenbean  Must be able to deliver script clearly in a ‘west country’ accent  

female presenting 

singing in company numbers only 

Slime  Giant Blunderbore’s henchman 

Male presenting 

singing in company numbers only 

Tillamina Trot  The Dame – ‘Tillie’ 

The owner of the Trot family farm 

Solo, duet and company singing and dance / movement required 

Jack Trot  The oldest son of Tillie 

The hero / male presenting 

Solo, duet and company singing and dance / movement required 

Tommy Trot  Tillie’s younger son 

The comic role / male presenting 

Solo and company singing and dance / movement required 

Baroness Betina Beetroot (pronounced B’troot)  School friend of Tillie Trot – she married very well and now thinks she’s a class above everyone else! 

Female presenting 

Solo, duet and company singing and dance / movement required 

Miranda  The daughter of the Baroness 

Principal girl role 

Solo, duet and company singing and dance / movement required 

Harriet  Miranda’s cousin. Jolly and friendly! 

Female presenting 

Solo singing and company dance / movement required 

Character appears in Act 2 only – could potentially be within the chorus during Act 1 

Giant Blunderbore  He who resides at the top of the beanstalk!  

Male presenting 

Able to deliver dialogue (recorded and live) in a deep resonant voice tone 

Character appears ‘live’ in Act 2 only – could potentially be within the chorus during Act 1 

Buttercup   The cow! 

Two people able to work together in close proximity!  

Ideally these two people will also be chorus members – lots of opportunity to be in big company numbers as well as playing Buttercup.  

Wish list…. Able to tap dance! 

Chorus of Villagers  You have an essential part to play in this pantomime! Your personality will shine through, your dedication and hard work will ensure we raise the roof on every performance! Involved in dialogue, singing and dance / movement throughout the show.  

Junior Chorus – please note that children must be aged 9 years or over to audition and a maximum of 10 under 18s will be cast across ensemble and principals roles. 

 

We will use ‘Together Forever’ by Rick Astley (from the beginning to end of 1st chorus) for both singing and movement sections of the audition should you wish to do some prep in advance.

Audition format 

10am – Arrival/Registration

10.30am – Singingwe will be singing as a group and principles will also be asked to sing in character 

11.15am – Movement a simple routine to the same song – (NB – we will also be collecting information on any particular dance / acrobatic skills from company members as we are keen to showcase the theatre’s talent! 

12.15pm – Departure chorus 

12.30pm – Principal dialogue auditions  

Script sections will be provided on the day for principals. If you wish to prepare for specific roles and would like sight of the audition pieces in advance, please let us know and they can be provided.
